Scholarship Awarded in memory of Dr. Mickey Lowe
Scholarship Awarded in Memory of Dr. Mickey Lowe to STGC First Former
Mrs. Monique Todd, daughter of the late Dr. Mickey Lowe, recently presented a symbolic football and scholarship certificate to first former Kambre Dixon.
The scholarship, established in memory of Dr. Mickey Lowe, is awarded to a talented student footballer and covers all expenses for the recipient’s five years of secondary education at St. George’s College. It includes tuition, books, uniforms, and other incidentals.
Kambre, a gifted footballer who joined STGC from Holy Family Primary, has expressed his commitment to working hard academically while proudly representing the college on the football field.
Dr. Mickey Lowe himself represented STGC in football and later played as a midfielder for the STGC Old Boys Masters League team in the late 1990s. Known for being pleasant, respectful, and good-natured, he always played the game hard but fair.
A physician by profession, Dr. Lowe was deeply committed to serving the less fortunate. He provided care at the Chinese Old Age Home on North Street and in his clinics in Kingston’s poorer communities, charging patients minimally—or nothing at all—if they could not afford it.
Dr. Mickey Lowe passed away in November 2019 in Toronto, Canada.
May Mickey Lowe and the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
