Lacrosse Taino Cup Final [2024]
Lacrosse Taino Cup Final…. STGC(8 ) vs KC(4)
The Lacrosse Knights pulled off a great win and retained the championship. It was a high quality match against a KC team that looked keen at upsetting the apple cart.
The Light Blue Knights, unbeaten in the last two seasons, were the clear favorite but within 10 minutes of the first half, they found themselves 0-3 down. The Purples started off at a blistering pace that left the Knights defense flat footed. But the Knights cleared the cobwebs from their heads and recalibrated. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 1-3 in KC’s favor. In the 2nd quarter, the Knights started to take hold of the game as KC was unable to sustain the ferocious pace of the first quarter. This quarter’s half-time ended at 3-3.
In the 3rd and 4th quarters, the Knights continued to press hard and scored three unanswered quality goals. The Purples tried to mount a comeback but the Knights by now had consolidated their defense making it hard for the opponents to score.
In the end, the STGC Lacrosse Knights won 8-4. The quality in the Knights team was too much for the Purples.
It was a high quality game with plenty action. The game was played in a good competitive spirit with just one period when the officials had to intervene as things looked to getting out of hand.
In the Maroon Cup, Wolmer’s Girls beat St. Hugh’s High 5-3 in another exiting game.
Congrats to the Lacrosse Knight, coach Damion McKenzie and his staff, the parents and supporters.
