Mrs. Margaret Campbell Honored with Prime Minister’s Medal for Transformational Leadership in Education

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – St. George’s College is beaming with pride as its trailblazing Principal, Mrs. Margaret Campbell, was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Service to Education. Marking her 18th year as the first female and longest-serving principal of the institution, Mrs. Campbell’s legacy of visionary leadership and unwavering dedication continues to inspire.

A transformative figure in education, Mrs. Campbell has championed the belief that effective teachers must be lifelong learners. Her remarkable tenure at St. George’s College is defined by her passion for uplifting boys’ education and fostering professional growth among educators. Beyond her leadership at the college, she chairs the board of St. Richard’s Primary and serves on the boards of the Jamaica Association for the Deaf and the Lister Mair School for the Deaf, extending her impact across communities.

Despite her extensive administrative responsibilities, Mrs. Campbell remains deeply connected to the classroom, teaching CSEC Mathematics and inspiring students with her mantra: “When you’re doing something, don’t compare yourself with others. Instead, always aim to be better than your last best.” Her hands-on approach underscores her commitment to improving math education and empowering young minds.

Mrs. Campbell’s accolades reflect her extraordinary contributions. In 2018, she was named LASCO Principal of the Year, and in 2024, she was inducted into the Immaculate Conception High School Hall of Fame. Yet, it is her relentless passion, leadership, and love for her students that truly set her apart.

Admired and respected by colleagues, students, and the wider community, Mrs. Campbell’s influence transcends St. George’s College. Her transformative leadership and dedication to education have left an indelible mark, making her a true icon in Jamaican education.
