St. George’s College Alumni Association Ontario

Overview:
Formerly known as the St. George’s College Old Boys’ Association Ontario, the St. George’s College Alumni Association Ontario was established in 1985. Its primary purpose is to bring together and foster fellowship and camaraderie among past students and their families, particularly those residing in Ontario.

Mission:
The Association is dedicated to uniting members in efforts to ensure that this esteemed Jesuit institution, founded in 1850, continues to provide the well-rounded quality education that generations of students have been privileged to receive.

Motto:
A.M.D.G. (Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam – For The Greater Glory Of God).

How the Ball Got Rolling

In 1996 a special committee was established, chaired by our Treasurer Ray Chang; to put together a major annual fundraising event. This took the form of a Super Summer Ball Gala. The funds would go largely to assisting our alma mater St.George’s College in Kingston Jamaica and also to provide scholarships here in Canada to Old boys and their offspring to further their education in our new country.

The first Ball was held in July 1997 with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires providing the entertainment. There were over 900 in attendance including Metro Toronto Chairman Alan Tonks, Jamaica Consul General Margarietta St. Juste, and distinguished guest Bishop Lawrence Burke S.J. of the Bahamas who said grace.

We continue to focus on having at least one major fundraising event annually and this year our Dinner Dance is scheduled for Friday, August 1, 2025. Providing as before top class entertainment and dancing for patrons will greatly assist in fulfilling  a great funding need for this over 174 year old Jesuit high school in a marginalized area of the capital Kingston, allowing it to continue to produce men and women for tomorrows Jamaica.
