Aaron Black & Ajani English recipients of the Raymond Chang & Carl Chang scholarship.
Congratulations to Aaron Black, Valedictorian of the Class of 2020–2021, for being the recipient of the (Late) Carl Chang Scholarship for the academic years 2021–2023.
Congratulations to Ajani English, Honour Student of the Class of 2020–2021, for being the recipient of the (Late) Ray Chang Scholarship for the academic years 2021–2023.
The late Carl Chang was a successful businessman and proud former Georgian. He was a remarkably humble individual who provided tremendous support to St. George’s College in numerous roles, including photographer, maintenance manager, advancement manager, and many others. Wherever he identified a need, he stepped in without hesitation to address it. Despite his extensive contributions and selfless giving back to the school, he never sought grand recognition.
The late Raymond Chang was also a successful businessman and former Georgian. Like Carl, Ray was known for his remarkable humility, deep commitment, and extraordinary generosity. He often described education as “the greatest equalizer” and worked tirelessly to make it accessible to all. Ray dedicated his life to giving back, never refusing a request from the school and assisting in any way possible. Despite his substantial contributions, he shunned publicity and recognition.
To honour their legacies, the scholarships were presented on October 26, 2021, on behalf of the Canadian Old Boys Association Chapter by Mr. Ian Telfer, President of the Old Boys Association, Jamaica. Also in the photo is Mr. I. Telfer, who made the presentation to the students.
Aaron Black exemplifies the ideal that St. George’s College strives to instill in its Young Knights: to become true “men for others.” Even during the challenges of the pandemic, he willingly assisted fellow classmates with their School-Based Assessments (SBAs). Despite having his own work to complete, he frequently left home to come to campus and offer help whenever his peers needed it.
Young Knights Aaron and Ajani, congratulations once again on a job well done. Keep up the excellent work!
St. George’s College extends a heartfelt “Thank You” to our Old Knights for planting yet another seed for our Young Knights to reap. We once more express profound gratitude to our Old Knights for continuing to sow seeds that will benefit generations of Young Knights to come.
