The St. George’s College community got the sad news that one of it’s outstanding knights, Peter Gooden Class 1973 had passed on.

“Goodie” was always cheerful, confident and approachable. He had a great sense of humor. Peter enjoyed lively class discussions making his points clearly and logically but was always respectful. He excelled in academics especially in chemistry and the biological sciences.

He was an all-rounder and applied the same discipline and hard work to the track. He excelled here too and in 1973 was the 200m and 400m Class 2 Champion at the Inter-Secondary School Championship.

While in school, he lost his father who was murdered by a gunman. He would say that this was one of the most painful period of his life.

After Sixth Form, Peter left on scholarship to the University of New Mexico. He did not pursue a career in track and field due to recurring injuries. He was awarded a BSc in chemical engineering from that institution. Later on, he obtained an MBA from the Washington University of St. Louis and an MSc in economics and management from the Hanken School of Economics, Finland.

Peter had wide working experience. He was the plant manager for the Ashland Incorporated Group. He was the Operation Efficiency Consultant for London Underground. He then worked as a Consultant in Business/ Process Improvement and Professional Networking. In later years, he worked in the real estate market.

He travelled extensively with his wife Eddy reaching as far as the Himalayas on one trip.

The last few months were difficult for Peter as he fought a recurring illness. But with a positive spirit and strength of the Lord, he faced the battle courageously. He went home to his Creator on the September 16, 2021 a few days after his 65th birthday.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Eddy, son John Paul Gregory, brothers Michael, Lynford and Mark, sister Ruth Ann and other relatives. It is a very difficult time for the family.

The STGC Class 1973 and the wider St. George’s College community sends sincerest condolences to his wife and his family.

We have lost a true gentleman.

May the soul of Peter and souls of the faithful departed, rest-in-peace.
